AFA boycott working, Ford silently dropping ads from homosexual publications
(Tupelo, MS) - American Family Association (AFA) says Ford Motor Company, in response to the organization’s boycott, appears to be quietly dropping their advertising from homosexual magazines. AFA says that Ford has run full page ads monthly in The Advocate, a publication geared to homosexuals, for years. However, Ford has not advertised in the publication since December.
“Ford has felt the impact of the boycott, and this is their way out to save face. Ford has elected to drop support for the homosexual publications and remain silent about it,” said Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of AFA. AFA has been promoting a boycott of Ford since last March. Ford sales have been dropping dramatically since the boycott began, down 13.5% in February compared to a year ago.
Wildmon said that no homosexual group has come to the defense of Ford, electing to remain silent rather than publicly supporting Ford. In December 2005, Ford told AFA they would drop advertising in homosexual publications, but reneged when angry homosexual leaders met with the company.
“We will keep monitoring Ford’s support for the homosexual agenda,” Wildmon said. He said that while all of Ford’s financial problems are not the direct result of the boycott, many of them are.
